Module 7: Facilitating with Technology

Module 7 focused more on how you can use technology as a teacher, as opposed to how your students will use it in the classroom. In this module, you created facilitation and management resources that will help you prepare and stay on track as you facilitate this type of teaching and learning with your students. As you reflect on what you have learned and created tonight and throughout the course, please answer the following questions and respond to at least one colleague:

  • In what roles do you see technology fulfilling in your classroom?
  • What 21st century skills do you feel you will be the most apparent in your classroom as a result of planning this unit?

Please respond to the following questions in your personal blog:
  • What do you feel has been the most useful thing you will take away from this course?
  • Do you think you will plan units that follow a similar format to this one in the future?
  • What features from this type of curriculum design might you use again?
  • Is there anything else you hope to learn from this course before it is completed?

Module 6: Planning for Student Success

This week we focused on creating accommodations for diverse learners and supporting student self-direction through the use of formative assessments and other student support resources. As you reflect on the work you have completed today, please answer the following questions:

  • How can I facilitate a student-centered classroom?
  • How can I use technology to support this instructional practice?
  • What new ideas or concepts have I taken from today's session?

Module 5: Assessing Student Learning

This week, we focused on creating student-centered assessments. We discussed the challenges and highlights of involving your students in the assessment process and explored didferent ways to assess student progress. Briefly respond to the following questions and then reply to the thoughts of at least one colleague:
  • What are some new ways I can assess student learning that I have not used in the past?
  • How can I be sure I am assessing higher-order thinking skills in my classroom?
  • How can I involve students in the assessment process?

Module 4: Creating Student Samples

This week, we examined and created sample of student learning to help our students achieve success and keep learning goals and objectives in mind. Now that you have worked with your team to create one or more student samples, please answer the following:

  • How can the creation of a student sample help me clarify unit expectations and improve my instructional design?
  • How can I ensure students will achieve the learning objectives when creating their student projects?

After posting your response, please reply to the thoughts one or more of your colleagues.

Module 3: Making Connections

Tonight we focused on unsing the Internet to enhance teaching and learning. We looked at how students can use the Internet for conducting research, communicating and collaborating, all of which are 21st century skills.

Module 2: Planning Our Unit

Welcome to week 2!

Tonight, we focused on using standards, objectives, curriculum-framing questions (CFQ's) and assessments to support student learning. Please answer the following questions in 1-2 sentences each:

  • How can Curriculum-Framing Questions help support my students' learning?
  • How can I plan ongoing student-centered assessments?

Module 1: Teaching With PBL

Module 1 consisted of researching and discussing Problem -Based learning and its place in the 21st Century classroom. Now that you have had time to think about this topic, please reply with your answers to the following questions:

•How can projects help my students meet standards and develop 21st century skills?
•How can I use projects to enhance student learning?
